Does kombucha contain alcohol?
All fermented foods and beverages contain trace alcohol - it is a natural byproduct of the fermentation process. KULTCHA KOMBUCHA is a NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE, containing <0.5% alcohol content. It does need to be kept refrigerated. If left unrefrigerated for long periods of time, the bottled beverage may start re-fermenting. While that is perfectly natural, good to drink and still delicious, it may increase the alcohol content - so keep your KULTCHA KOMBUCHA in the fridge and drink it soon after opening.

How many kombucha's can I drink in a day?
As with all foods and beverages, moderation is key, and tolerance varies from person to person. If you have never tried kombucha before, try one per day, and increase your consumption if you are comfortable. KULTCHA Kombucha recommends no more than four 330ml kombucha's a day. Two would be a comfortable amount.
NOTE: as a live probiotic beverage, containing organic acids, kombucha is known for it's benefits to digestion. If your digestion has been slow, there is a high likelihood that your first kombucha may result in a good old digestive flush-out! In which case...Congratulations!
Can kombucha go 'off'?
Kombucha has an incredibly long shelf life, due to the presence of organic acids that occur naturally from the fermentation process. KULTCHA Kombucha should be kept refrigerated at all times until opened. Once opened, consume within 2-3 hours.
Kombucha can go 'off' if it is opened, exposed to contamination (for example, food you have eaten whilst drinking from the bottle), and then left standing for several hours. If you inadvertently introduce other bacteria to your kombucha after opening it, that contamination may spoil the kombucha.
What is the shelf life of KULTCHA Kombucha?
KULTCHA Kombucha has a shelf life of 8 months if kept refrigerated and unopened. Check the bottle for the expiry date.
There are things floating in my kombucha! Can I drink it?
KULTCHA Kombucha is a raw, unpasteurized, fermented beverage. It will naturally contain sediment - this is healthy, perfectly natural and good to consume. You may see two kinds of sediment forming in your bottle of KULTCHA: either an opaque, 'slimy' appearing sediment, or brownish strands. This is the SCOBY (cellulose that forms naturally during fermentation from the live bacteria and yeast cultures). It is good to drink, and it means your kombucha is healthy!
WAIT! What? Bacteria and Yeast? Is it safe?
Know all those 'happy bacteria' that yogurt, miso and kimchi makers have been telling you about for years? Say no more! Fermented foods have well known and well documented health benefits. Kombucha has the special honor of being a deliciously refreshing and tasty fermented beverage that can be enjoyed any time of day. Due to it's naturally occurring organic acids, Kombucha has an exceptionally long shelf-life (if kept refrigerated), and if stored correctly, it's almost impossible for kombucha to 'go bad'. In short - it's not only safe, it's really good for you!
Can kombucha bottles explode?
If left unrefrigerated for an extended period, kombucha will begin to ferment again. This runs a high risk of the glass bottle exploding! PLEASE BE WARNED! KULTCHA KOMBUCHA MUST BE STORED REFRIGERATED AT ALL TIMES BEFORE OPENING!
